What’s so special about South Tweed Bowls?
Gail meek, April 2024
Ask any bowler about what is critical to a successful game of bowls and they are likely to reply the quality of greens. Even highly skilled bowlers can struggle if the greens are in poor condition. Talk to the bowlers at South Tweed and they will tell you that the greens are among the best on the coast. The greens are complemented by new shade awnings, an expansive new seating area, plenty of parking and picture-perfect surroundings.
Bowls is a game that is great for men and women of all ages. Currently, several school students enjoy regular games at the club. For senior players, it is a relaxed and comparatively light physical demand. Players can enjoy cognitive benefits regarding strategy, tactics and improved coordination regardless of whether they choose recreational or serious competition. Bowling is easy to learn and the physical demands remain within reach for many years. Recently South Tweed won three Zone Titles which qualifies them to participate in the State Titles. Playing is extremely affordable at only $12 per game. Trips away to other clubs are frequently on the agenda with the club’s courtesy bus usually available to transport bowlers and the trips are a great experience for the younger bowlers as well as the seniors. The bowlers enjoy regular social times.
Barbeques and cold beverages are regular events. The camaraderie between teams and the mixed social events are always a winner.
